Facial Sit In and Pampering for Me
Today I was able to sit with one of my classmates as she did her facial on a male client. Since its an opposite gender there always needs to be another person in there too for safety reasons. It was relaxing with the music and she did a really good job on him. He commented on her facial several times and was ticklish too. She felt bad about the ticklish part but I could see he was really relaxed and I was wishing I was getting the facial from her. After the European Facial one of my classmates did my eyebrows, curled my hair, and made it into an updo. It was cute! So I had a relaxing day today and tomorrow I will be focusing on my Manikin Snappy! So back to being serious tomorrow!

Spa Pedicure
This past week I also learned how to do a spa pedicure. I also had one done to me in class. That was wonderful and during it I had a lovely surprise>a phone call from my twin. She told me I won a prize and needed to call the number. I was in class so no usage of phones. So I asked the teacher if it was okay to make a call since I won something. She said yes because she wanted to know what I won. About a minute before my twin called I was reading the Bible and a classmate said to read Ps.100:23. I knew there was no such verse but turned there anyway and told her there was just five verses in that chapter. She told me to read Ps. 100:5 which says "For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations." The Lord is good: I got to experience His goodness just a little while after reading the verse. I won the Wendy's Stand Up Paddle Board Contest that I entered. How cool is that! Its my 1st surfboard ever! So that was my best day of the semester. It was a very good day. I made a tie dye washcloth in Cosmetic Chemistry that turned out to look like a bird>its soo cute. Let me know if you ever want a pedicure>I have a little foot bath that I bought yesterday. I need to practice my manis and pedis!

More Haircuts and Facials
Well I gave my first client-paying facial since the last time I blogged and it was okay. I knew the order to apply the products, but I was so nervous that I forgot the order of the movements in my massage section. Oh well, live and learn. I also had a client that I knew>my twin. I cut her hair and she loves it. I even remembered to shampoo her hair. {I noticed at the front desk theres a sign that says all clients must have their hair shampooed before every haircut to insure proper sanitation(oops, remember my last haircut).} she has layers around her face and a few layers in the back. She came to my school and was being her silly self. She put my headband on and was acting like a tennis player. She embarrassed me a little, but I know thats just how she is. She made one of my friends laugh and I have not seen her laugh in a while so that was good. This week I learned more male haircuts and even cut one of my guy friends hair. I love how it looks but I dont know how much he likes it. He had his hair in a pony tail and needed it cut, but it is still a longer hairstyle. He wanted an Asian Style. I gave him one but I dont know if thats the one he wanted>many different Asian styles right? This week I got to use the clippers for the 1st time on my manikin. It was nice> a little shorter than my teacher wanted in the mid-area. I am a little behind since I was not able to cut the manikins beard because I needed to leave school early on Thursday. I will be able to catch up though so thats good. Today I was at the front desk and it was relaxing. I got to sit all day and "study" for my test on monday on Relaxers. I got to run the cash register, answer the phone, schedule appointments, and hand out service slips. I will do that again on Monday after my test so hopefully that will be another relaxing day. Until next time! Hope your Salon experience is a Success!

So far this semester I learned European Facials, which feel great; and Men's Haircuts, which I know I will enjoy doing. I love sculpting(cutting) vertically because I can visualize it better than straight across. Soon I will be learning Spa Pedicures and more Male Haircuts. I enjoyed the European Facial because I got to lay down in class with soothing music right next to me. Plus our faces were glowing when we were through since we were relaxed.
Last week I spent 2 days in the dispensary giving out supplies. I kept myself busy. On my 1st test I got a disappointing 85% on electricity . I am trying to shoot for at least 90% for my written tests. I also had my first long hair client-that same day I forgot to sign in so I had no clients until I asked if I would have any. That's okay though, because I worked on wrapping a perm in the morning and it came out well. I forgot to wash her hair before I cut it and just sprayed it with my water bottle. Oops, I hope to remember to shampoo before cutting! She was going to the beach anyway and it was her first time at our schools salon. I will try to remember to apologize to her when I see her again. She plans on coming again when my Cosmetology Club has our Locks of Love Fundraiser in November.
This week I did Men's hairsculpting; some good, some difficult. I also had another test, this time on perming and I got an amazing 104%. This time I studied and it paid off. For some reason I have an easier time learning technnical terms than ordinary ones. Well tommorow I am out of the class and into the salon floor. Wish me luck or just steady hands and clients-Tips are always good and needed!

Janell Cosmetology School
Janell Cosmetology School: So far so good in Cosmetology school. I started school on August 23 and have had 2 clients at school. I enjoyed both of them. They both gave me food. One gave me mangoes which I took home to make mango salsa. The other a whole box of Dark KitKat bars that I shared with whoever wanted. It was great. They were both very nice and patient with me. The "mango lady" had a chem shot treatment>pretty much a special leave in shampoo and conditioner treatment for her colored hair to revive the color. So that was simple after I read the directions in a minute. The KitKat bar lady was a little more complicated. She had beautiful curly hair. I did a reatouch on her and attempted to cut her locks. I did not know to retouch just the front part of the head and ended up doing a little extra service by retouching her whole head. She told me she had "rebellious hair" that would not take the color. She would tell me to put more product if I did not want the teacher to do it for me. She was so cute and right. But I did not get upset when the teacher helped because that's why they are there. I am there to learn. The hair cut was shorter than she was expecting, and a classmate encouraged me to get the teacher and she ended up fixing the ladies hair and finishing the 2nd half of the cut. I just shed a few tears for a moment of to the side. I did not realize how long I would spend with the client. It took almost 5 hours including the teacher helping otherwise it would have been longer. Now I know why the last semester cosmetology students would be eating lunch while there clients hair were processing>they would not have time to eat if they were going to cut their clients hair too. I am also in the Cosmetology Club again this semester and I am excited to be my class representative. I will try my best to attend all the events this year. One event that I am especially excited about is LOCKS of LOVE, an organization that people donate their hair that is turned into wigs for cancer patients. I plan to donate some of my hair if the length is long enough. I am willing to sacrifice a little of my "beauty" to allow someone else to have a piece of my love to be beautiful. If I have to wear my hair short then I am willing to make that sacrifice for a little while. I will keep everyone updated. Let me know if you ever want to come in for a service, but maybe not haircuts yet, unless you really don't care if a disaster happens.
Thanks for your time! Janellsc
