Dispensary : ( & Male Manikin!?

Well on Monday and Tuesday I had dispensary duty so refilling shampoo and conditioner bottles. It took super long. Then my teacher from last semster said "Bless your heart." because I was filling the conditioner bottles by using a funnel that took longer to fill. Then she showed me an easier way with the cap of a color bottle that was cut with a bigger hole. I knew that last time I was in the dispensary it was there>the cap, but I guess I did not try looking for it hard enough. I was thankful that on Tuesday I had another classmate with me that washed about 5 loads of laundery. I usually end up with someone that does not take the initiative to find something to do.
On Wednesday we did more Color and Highlighting but this time it was on the male manikin. Thursday was filled with cutting Samuel the male manikin's hair. We used the clippers and I cut it shorter than  it was supposed to be since I looked at the book and it looked really close to the scalp. I also tried to free hand it and was lazy to hold the comb up. Oh well. I need to learn how to not make holes in the hair. Not too bad, but blending haircuts for me is a challenge right now and especially using the clippers.
On Friday I was able to cut a lady's hair that was shorter in the back that went diagonally forward to the front of her neck. It was cute and she was gracious and patient with me. She knew I was nervous and told me not to be. I let her know that sometimes I think to much about what I am doing in stead of doing it. So that helped me to work faster. Hopefully when she comes back she asks for me! Oh to another week of Cosmetology School. I am in a desparate need of a break!!! I will keep pressing on> I'm edging onto the halfway point of my schooling!!!

Color COLOR and MORE COLOR

I had a wonderful day on Thursday as the class was reintroduced to Redken's Shades EQ haircolor. We got to experiment by coloring our manikin hair with a demi-permanent color. It just coats the hair with color and washes out in 8-10 shampoos. Our manikins were already highlighted and colored from our last semester>so we got to color and highlight it again. I started by slicing highlights and applying the .5ozBonfire color along the strand. I put 2 or 3 back to back foils of the Bonfire. Then sliced and put the highlights on every other parting. A total of 7 foils. Then I left the leftover Bonfire in the bowl and added 1ozSangria to the bowl and applied to the rest of the hair on the sides and back. I focused on applying more color near the scalp and less as I got to the ends. When the color application was over I put a plastic bag over the hair and put the manikin into the wig dryer. I let it dry 15-20 minutes. Then I removed foils and shampooed with remaining color and rinsed until water ran clear. Then I shampooed lightly and put conditioner in the hair. Then I blewdried her hair and put a litttle conditioner in and then flat ironed. That was my fun Thursday. Today I worked on various hair designs and curled her hair. I will enjoy designing Snappy's hair until it washes out and back to normal. That will be a sad day :( Until then I will keep designing her and enjoy looking at the beautiful warm colors she now has>something to brighten up my days!

Retouches, Spiral Perm, One Hour Haircut and Pampering

On Monday I worked on putting gel on my Snappy's hair at the scalp area to similate doing a color and bleach retouch. Then as I was going to work on putting gel to the whole strand my teacher asked if I wanted to help wrap a perm with one of my classmates. Since I have not done one on a real peron yet I was so excited and I was hoping for one that day too. When I got to the client I looked at the perm tools in her hair and freaked a little because I had never used the tool on her hair. It was big rings. It was difficult but not too frustrating. She had reallly long hair. I was glad to help my classmate beacause she was patient with me to wrap my part of the clients hair and she was grateful too. Well several hours later went by and the perm came out beautifully! We worked through lunch and I went to chemistry class a little late but thats okay.

Today I cut a ladies hair in just 1 hour>well half an hour if you dont count getting ready and the shampoo. She had shorter hair and wanted it spiked on the top and to keep the length in the back. I had my teacher help at the last area near her neck since she had 5 more minutes before class. I am glad I asked her if she had the day off from school while I shampooed her hair, because that made me know how much time I had. She was not off but needed to go to class at 930am. I let my teacher know too. I dont know if she totally liked it. I think we may have cut it too short in the back but she also had my teacher cut it shorter on the sides. I will see if she liked it if she comes again next month. Then I worked on doing altenating oblongs with rollers and pincurls. Then the woman that runs the front desk area asked if I wanted to to help her for about an hour being a model. I knew the senior class was working on facials and I went up to the front desk and she told me it was for the senior class. They needed an extra model so that was fun and relaxing. After the facial and lunch I did an updo that I saw in a magazine. It was not the same but preety close to it>I had just a side profile of the hair style. I said it was for a simple wedding look and I was glad how it came out. I still need to work on my updos being smoother but it was simple, elegant, and quick! Then I brushed out my rollers and it was all right. I liked the front fringe area it had a little wave going onto her face. One of my childhood friends is a senior so they were on the salon floor after their facials and she asked if she could work on me. She needed to do a french manicure so I let her give me one and it was nice so I left it on. She and I both need to work on nail techniques so that was good that she practiced on me. Its something that doesn't come easily. I am glad I had a great start of this week! I will keep pressing on until the end of this week! Thanks again for checking out my blogspot!

Daydreaming about Fingerwaves

This week I went over one of the most difficult hair designs that I may learn in school. Its a technique to move the hair into specific wave patterns. I am getting really fatigued and tired that I was considering not going to school and having thoughts to quit. I am smarter than that though I can't quit now. It can only make me stronger and to grow. I believe I worked on fingerwaves for two days. When I went home I was daydreaming about the shape of it. I knew it was to much. I did not even want to go back to school today, but I did and got to school about 10 minutes late instead of arriving 1 1/2 hour before class starts on Thursday and Friday. So I had a good day working on Hair Designing all day but "No" fingerwaves. I got to shampoo my classmate and I also got a shampoo from another classmate. I may give one of my classmates a facial on Monday if we have time to work on each other. I am pretty sure that I will have a better week this coming week!!! Until then!Bye!
